Methodology
The Atlas exists because EVE's combat-site knowledge is scattered across half-dead wikis, frozen mission-report archives and spreadsheets, with no way to tell what is current from what died three expansions ago. Our answer is not to claim everything here is perfect. It is to grade every claim by where it came from, and to keep upgrading claims by running the sites ourselves, on camera.
The grades
- A ESI-derived / official
- ESI-derived / official. The claim is machine-derived from EVE's live public API (ESI) or official developer documentation, or from a source that regenerates itself from ESI and is actively maintained against the live game (this is why wormhole rosters from the maintained Rykki lineage qualify: per-NPC stats regenerate from ESI on an automatic schedule, and the wave structure is curated against them). A-grade data can still lag a patch by days, so check the review stamp.
- B Community-corroborated
- Community-corroborated. At least two independent sources agree, for example the EVE University wiki and our own in-client observation. Good enough to plan around, but not immune to patch churn.
- C Single-source / unverified
- Single-source / unverified. One source only, or a source known to be stale. Published because a caveated answer beats no answer, but treat it as a lead, not a fact.
- ▶ V Verified on camera
- Verified on camera. We ran the site, recorded it, and linked the episode with a timestamp, along with the date and game version, because verification decays too. This is the tier no wiki can offer, and it grows every week.
What gets graded
Grades attach to claim-groups (the NPC roster, the payout, the access rules) and not to a page as a whole. One page can carry an A-grade roster and a C-grade escalation note. That asymmetry is honest, and hiding it is how other references rot. When no source has an answer at all (escalation chains are the worst case in the whole game), the page says "not mapped" rather than guessing.
Freshness
Every page carries a last reviewed date and the game version it was reviewed against. Faction Warfare currently carries an extra warning banner: all three of the 2026 expansions centre on FW mechanics, so FW numbers churn faster than anything else in the game.
Sources and licences
- EVE's official ESI API and developer documentation, the A-grade backbone.
- Rykki's Guide lineage (Grubu-maintained) for wormhole sites, which regenerates from live ESI.
- EVE University wiki, reused under CC BY-SA 4.0 with per-page attribution where their material is used.
- Our own gameplay, recorded and published on Down the Chain.
Atlas editorial content, meaning our prose, structure and commentary, is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. The underlying game statistics belong to Fenris Creations and are used under their developer licence. We do not and cannot relicense those. The Atlas is free, has no paywall, and never will have one.
A note on the studio name
EVE Online was made by CCP Games until May 2026, when management bought the studio back from Pearl Abyss and renamed it Fenris Creations. Pages here say Fenris Creations for anything about the game today, and still say CCP when describing something the studio did before the rename, because that is who did it. Some of the licence documents we work under are still CCP-worded.
Corrections
If you can show a claim is wrong, with a killmail, a screenshot or a fresher source, we want it. The fastest route is a comment on the channel. Corrections ship with the next weekly build and the page's grade is adjusted to match the new evidence.
